FORMER ISLAND DEFJAM AND INTERSCOPE RECORDING ARTIST MELEKEL RELEASES “FACE OFF” ALBUM

After five Singles with the majors and a Gold record for Desperado.

Los Angeles, CA, USA (September 17, 2014) — Living in an age of music proliferation it becomes of great artistic importance to offer listeners a high level of musical and visual content, thereby offering the public a greater experience in value. Such is the daunting task of the 21st Century recording artist and although the world continues to evolve; as humans, we still face off with some of the very same issues that have plagued mankind since the beginning of time.

Face Off is a microscopic attempt by an artist of our generation to address some of these issues in the most proactive and simple way know to the artist; through the arts. In this case, the art is Music and the artist is Reggae Recording Star Melekel; born and raised in Panama, a Caribbean nation famous for one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Panama Canal.

The culmination of a four year journey into a land of sleepless nights and tempered days, driven not by bread or Hollywood diets, but an inspiration that has translated into a mirage of oasis, depicted in each track of the work. The Album is set for release October 31, 2014 but fans will be able to be amongst the first to download the record by choosing to Pre-Order Face Off on iTunes beginning October 3, 2014.

Overall, the songs contained within the body of work are well crafted and demand attention from listeners immediately upon introduction. Lovely, Bubble and Wine, and Hard to find are standout favorites as they present audiences with a softer gentler delivery from the Panamanian toaster. Some of the songs have been previously delivered in video format but were not available for download to fans until now and can be seen on Melekel.com, VEVO, YouTube and Muzu TV. Such examples include Stop Snitchin, Bedroom Champion, and most recently The Jump Off.

A world class performer, Melekel exposes followers to this aspect of his talent in the song Bella, a Spanish version of Lovely, very reminiscent of Reggae's humble beginnings of love and oneness; from a human relationship standpoint. Then, the widely popular Desperado, originally released through Interscope Records, earned Gold and continues to be an international favorite. The party anthem Clubbin is a smooth collaboration of Reggae and Hip Hop that brings to life an otherwise ordinary social affair like going to a nightclub.

"There were things that had to be said and could only be said in the context in which it was done" said the author. Ultimately, this CD will make you move, groove and remember that "One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain."
